Screed is the thin, top layer of material (usually sand and cement) applied on top of the structural concreteor insulation according to the desired finish requested by the client. Other finishing materials can then be applied or it can be left bare.

We use self-levelling poured screeds and we can now deliver, mix and pump screed from a single vehicle – which is a recent development in the UK.

Using the newer machines screeding can be administered directly from the mixing pan to the floor at a range of up to 60 metres.

Different thicknesses are used depending on the presence of underfloor heating pipes. Alternatively it can be applied as a floating finish over rigid insulation material. Reinforcement can be introduced in the form of fine metal mesh or fibres.
